As we close today, we will answer this question, "What's just, wrong?" I think the answers will range from silly to serious.
We practice asking and answering questions to encourage creative and critical thinking. Kids get to practice defending their ideas in a safe, no pressure space. They also get experience in communicating these ideas. Soft skills, such as speaking and actively listening, are life skills that will serve them well.
In small group with me, we practiced identifying and fixing fragment and run on sentences. Check out Brainpop and Brainpop Jr. for some extra practice.
We also worked on some spelling skills today, focusing on CVsilent e words.
We also examined the twins from "Twins in Space," and used evidence from the text to support our ideas.
There was time for independent reading too.
We started and will end our day with some Art Integration. Kids are creating collages in the spirit of Ubuntu. You will also see some "Ubuntu Arms" if you come to Open House this evening.
Open House is this evening from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.. I will be showing a short presentation to 201 families and will start a bit after 5. I know that many of you have more than one class to visit. I also understand that some may not be able to attend! Please do not hesitate to reach out and connect. I love hearing from parents!
I am still missing several Shark Island projects. Please get them in! The directions are posted on Google Classroom.
