Try Something Tuesday

During Today's Morning Meeting, we answered the question, "What's something that you would like to try?" Gabriel wants to try skydiving, which is the inspiration for this post's photograph. Other answers included: mushrooms, spicier food, straight A's, becoming a zoologist. There were more! 7:30 was a long time ago!

  • School starts at 7:30. If your child is walking in the door at 7:30, we are already headed up to the pod! Please try to get here a few minutes early so that your child does not miss any of our morning routine and instruction, which can be a stressful way to start the day. I am not a morning person, and I know that getting out the door is easier said than done.

  • Open House is this Wednesday, from 5-6 p.m.. We will meet in 201, where you will have the chance to learn more about what we do in here all day. I won't be able to give one on one conferences at that time, but I look forward to welcoming you here!

  • Later today, we will work on our "Ubuntu Guitars." They are looking great!

  • This morning, we watched this video to help us think about the concepts of community and ubuntu. Check it out: https://youtu.be/GBaHPND2QJg

  • We also began our Vocabulary work for the week, which can be found on Google Classroom. It will be due Thursday morning.

  • In small group, we compared and contrasted Giant and Red Pandas, zoning in on the "signal words" and details that make these animals more different than alike.

  • We also read a legend about Paul Bunyan on epic, and took a short quiz.

  • Next Tuesday, we will go to the library in the afternoon. Students will have time to browse and check out books. Yay!

Have a wonderful evening! Don't forget to check the Homework document, which is linked in the "for students" section of this blog.
