Thrilling Thursday

It is thrilling to hear your kids singing. Today, we continued to explore poetic devices. We are using Beyonce's song, Brown Skinned Girl to help us learn more about rhythm, simile, metaphor and imagery. I hope that kids are realizing that poetry is everywhere, and is very much a part of their lives.

Good to Know:

  • We will take a reading test tomorrow. Check the Homework Doc for details..

  • On Friday, students will recite one of the poems from "Butterfly Eyes..." in front of the class.

  • All Field Trip chaperone spots are taken. If you would like to volunteer, there will be other opportunities. Get ahead by filling out the cps volunteer form, which needs to be renewed each year. https://chicagopublicschools.civicore.com/index.php?action=english

  • Progress Reports will go home on Friday. We will also send home the results of the latest Star 360 Reading and Math tests.

  • Valentines Day is February 14th. Students may bring a card/treat for each classmate. There are 26 kids in our class. All cards must be signed at home. If you would like to decorate and bring in a box for Valentines, please bring do!
